Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
-
Won’t native plants take up grazing space?
While native trees and shrubs occupy space, the net productivity of paddocks increases in carefully designed systems. Trees reduce heat stress, which keeps cows grazing longer and improves feed conversion. They can also boost pasture quality and growth, especially in hot and windy conditions. Our plantings are designed to enhance, not replace grazing land.
-
Will trees get in the way of moving stock or machinery?
We understand farmers are busy people and efficiency is important. Our planting layouts are tailored to suit your farming needs and enable machinery access.
-
I am very time poor. Will these plantings make more work?
We keep it simple and low-maintenance. Once your plants are established, they will mostly look after themselves, but like all other farm assets they will need occasional maintenance from time to time. Our designs help hold moisture in the soil, keep nutrients in your paddocks and protect your stock- so over time, you’ll spend less time on inputs, and get more out of your land.
-
Will the trees compete with my pasture?
Well-placed shelterbelts can cut wind speeds by up to 50%, boosting soil moisture and reducing evapotranspiration. Pastures behind shelter grow 10–20% more dry matter, stay greener for longer, and deliver higher protein and digestibility. Our designs balance winter sun with summer shade for the best year-round performance, and we select trees that won’t suppress plants underneath.
-
I’m worried that planting trees will increase my fire risk
Fire safety is always front of mind in our designs. Well-placed, carefully selected trees can help slow wind and reduce ember spread relative to a cleared paddock, supporting your overall fire resilience. We provide guidance on sensible setbacks and access routes, but we always recommend working with your local CFA to develop a farm fire plan to guide what’s safest to do in extreme conditions.
-
Will I lose control of my land?
In our plantings, you stay in control. You choose your objectives, where, when and how your project is delivered, and who pays for it.
-
What will others think?
This is the future of farming. Taking practical action now signals that you’re serious about resilience, farm productivity and animal welfare, in the short and longer term.

I don’t know where to start
You don’t have to go it alone. In fact, we don’t want you to. We’re here to provide advice to help get you started, and we help you plan and see your ROI before you start. We have phone support for when you need more. And importantly, we want to work together to build a community of people supporting farmers across Australia.
